Sightseeing
Shinkyo 2 minutes on foot:
Shinkyo is vermilion sacred bridge. This bridge belongs to Futarasan Shrine.
Toshogu Shrine
Tōshō-gū is dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. It was initially built in 1617, during the Edo period, while Ieyasu's son Hidetada was shōgun. Together with Futarasan Shrine and Rinnō-ji, it forms the Shrines and Temples of Nikkō UNESCO World Heritage Site, with 42 structures of the shrine included in the nomination. Five of them are designated as National Treasures of Japan, and three more as Important Cultural Properties.
Futarasan Shrine
The shrine was founded in 767 by Shōdō shōnin . The shrine takes its name from Mount Nantai, which is also called Futarasan.
Rinnoji Temple
It is a Tendai Buddhist temple. The site was established in the year 766 by Shōdō Shōnin.
Kegon Falls
Kegon Falls is located at Lake Chūzenji in Nikkō National Park. The main falls had a height of approximately 97 metres (318 ft).
Wetland in Oku-Nikko
It is registered with the Ramsar Convention Wetland. The site consists of Senjogahara, Odashirogahara, and Yunoko which are 1400m above sea level surrounded by mountainous areas.
Edo Wonderland Nikko Edomura
It is a Japanese cultural theme park in the Kinugawa Onsen area of Nikkō, Tochigi. The park resurrects and showcases the life and culture of the Edo period.
